The D Word…Discipline

I’m the person that buys a meal and eats half my food in the car before I get home. #guilty ??‍♀️This usually happens because I’m hungry and I get impatient. However, I know that somethings are better with a little patience and discipline. #delayedgratification

So I honestly don’t believe that anyone was born with discipline or if they are kudos to them because I wasnt gifted with that ability.

Define it for Me me Boo…I’m glad you asked.

Webster defines it as training to act in accordance with rules and activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill

Discipline is something that we have to continuously practice over and over again. For example, I have to make a conscious effort that I won’t indulge in fried foods, junk food and will exercise and make healthier eating choices. During the week my eating habits are usually good because I meal prep, but on the weekends I sometimes hit the struggle bus from brunching or sugar cravings.
The thing to remember is you will have days in which you may not make the best choices, but get up and try again!

Sometimes you have to challenge yourself to increase your discipline.
Let me give you an example so I started this challenge for the month of April. The challenge consists of 100 sit-ups or crunches everyday and 5 burpees. Thankfully, there are several people who joined me, however it still takes discipline to get out the bed, get off the couch or put my phone down to exercise and complete the challenge. It is on the tough days I remember why I started, what are my goals and how I will feel when I accomplish them.

Having the groups that I have to send a message to daily once I complete the challenge helps hold me accountable. Sometimes it helps having an accountability partner or even a workout buddy to go through life with you. I have a few friends that are not doing the challenge with me, but they still check in to encourage me with the challenge.

Plus y’all summer is right around the corner and it already feels like hell in Texas, so I am not trying to add to that misery by being bigger than i desire to ☀️?

I am interested in knowing what areas in your life do you have discipline or would like more discipline? Would it help for you to write little notes to yourself on the mirror? Have you asked someone to be your accountability partner? Or are you tracking your progress in an app?

Whatever area of your life that you need more discipline in I will say it is something that you just have to do because the timing will never be right and you can always think of an excuse as to why you can put it off until tomorrow.
So as the Nike slogan says, just do it. ✔

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
