Get Your Hope Up

Does it feel like a new year to you?
How are you really feeling as the calendar turned—hopeful, excited, expectant? Or does today feel like just another ordinary day?

We’ve all had those years when we say, “I’m not setting goals this year,” or “I’m just not feeling it.” And honestly, that feeling is valid. While some people stepped into the new year energized and inspired, others are carrying the weight of a year that was hard, exhausting, or deeply disappointing. For some, today feels no different than the final day of 2025. And that leads me to wonder—when the calendar changes, what do we expect to feel?

I won’t revisit every detail of my 2025, but I will say it was a rollercoaster. There were beautiful wins, and there were moments—especially toward the end of September—when life became incredibly busy and overwhelming. I found myself holding two truths at the same time: I experienced victories, yet some of my deepest desires remained unmet. In that tension, I had to sit with the reality that God is still good—even when life isn’t.

Over the weekend, I intentionally reflected on the goodness of God. I remembered how He healed my body, protected me in countless ways, sustained me, and gave me breath. I was reminded that He is I AM that I AM. everything I need Him to be.

After processing all of this, can I offer you a different narrative as we plan for this new year?

A difficult day or season does not define your life. So get your hopes up. Change can happen suddenly. Often, God does some of His greatest work in the moments when it feels like He’s doing nothing at all. You could be one moment, one word, one prayer, one day away from everything shifting.

As I reflected, I felt a gentle reminder to live with expectancy which is not rooted in circumstances, but anchored in who God is. Despite everything happening in the world, choose to get your hope up in God. He is still working, still moving, and still writing a story far greater than we can see.
